Amazon Kindle 2 Review

The new version of Kindle, Amazon's dedicated e-book device, latterly shipped with an enhanced display and varied other upgrades. It now provides good usability for reading linear fiction (mainly books). Check Kindle2 World Review post for availability in your country and what it implies.

* Screen Quality and Size
Kindle 2’s screen uses eInk technology with sixteen shades of grayscale which implies an extraordinarily clear screen. Its six hundred x eight hundred pixel resolution at 167 ppi. The 6”screen is a good size the full Kindle is about the scale of a paperback and the Kindle's screen is about 70% of that.
*Portability
1. Terribly thin and smooth at only .36 inches.
2. Light at 10.2 ounces.
3. Great battery charge lifespan.
4. Giant in-built memory that will hold lots of books.
*Reference Features
1. Inbuilt Dictionary.
2. Capability to search through all books.
3. Wikipedia access.
4. Free Web Access.
*Audio Books
1. Amazon owns Audible which offers access to a great range of paid audio books.
2. You can get free audiobooks from LibriVox.
3. The in-built speakers are pretty loud and work fine for when you are driving or cooking.
*One Handed Use
Kindle 2 does a good job by placing buttons on either side or having them found handily. This indicates that one-handed use with either hand is straightforward.
*Free Web Access
Kindle 2 has free built in Net Access. It's actually convenient and adds to both of your reading (through reference and search) and convenience (checking e-mail and stories).
*Background Music
Kindle has a helpful background music feature. There aren't any controls apart from play / pause and jump to next song.
