Review: Creative ZiiSound D5 Speaker System

Creative has this concept that wireless will be another big thing in cartable audio. More precisely, Bluetooth is the wireless medium in query and it is a first feature of the ZiiSound D5. It is not an especially mad concept - Bluetooth is about as pervasive as a technology gets. You will find it in devices starting from the Apple iPhone to the Samsung YP-R1, and plenty in between.
The benefit that gives the ZiiSound D5 is plain - unlike speaker docks, which are nearly unilaterally built with Apple's players to mind, Creative's ZiiSound D5 will work just as well with anything that may connect to it. The artistically understated design could just about have thrown off from the studio of Dieter Rams.
Call us questionable, but to our minds the ZiiSound D5 seems more like the baby brother of the BW Zeppelin than does its tangible descendant, the Zeppelin Mini. Actually , there is a feeling that you're having a look at £279.99-worth of audio kit. Its black mesh fabric covering hides a notable side of the ZiiSound D5's design, specifically its monocoque construction.
The speculation is that by reducing the quantity of parts utilized in the speaker's construction, it's less certain to affect the audio produced by the speaker cones mounted in it. Though Bluetooth is the planned connection to be used with the ZiiSound D5, Creative has still included a 3.5mm aux jack at the device's rear.
This is accompanied only by the power input and on / off button. The central strip of plastic is home to the sole 2 controls on the ZiiSound D5. At the front is a connect 'button ' ( really a touch-sensitive area, but you get the point ) used to place the device into syncing mode, while the top surface is a touch-sensitive volume control. This is wonderful if you would like to go from quiet to ungodly loud although not if you would like to make any refined adjustments.
